But I charged ahead, cleared a extraordinary chunk of desktop real estate, placed the wrist pad and mouse plate down, placed my mouse, started a game, and WOW.The only draw back is I will now need a bigger desk, so I have somewhere to put all my stuff (OK, work) Don't get me wrong, when I received it, I asked myself how someone in good conscience could charge this much for what must cost $2 or $3 to make. What can I say. I paid $37 for a mouse pad and I am very happy about it.
The wrist rest could be a little bit softer and smoother, but if you don't use the wrist rest, I really have no issues with this at all.Well worth the price. Going from a Belkin mouse pad for $10 to this one was a big upgrade, and it really does make a huge difference. So little friction and the wide size of it makes the accidental drops outside the pad never occur again.
I am going to get a cloth pad from steelseries. This pad is alright, but has more resistance in movement than I like. It also wears down till its about unusable even though it took a year or two.
Great for online gaming. I love my mat, I love how much room you get, and there are two different surface textures, and the option to take off the wrist rest. Overall I am very happy with the purchase.
That seems to be the way to go if you have a compatible (I believe some Laser mice or incompatible, but most optical mice are fine) mouse. To me, this pad is not worth the $40 tag. The next victim was a 16$ pad from Best Buy, wore through that one. Buy this exactmat only if you are a "lighthanded" mouse user and don't mind replacing your pad or don't mind the inconsistent feel after it begins to degrade. After beating those two up, I decided to search "durable mousepad" and this is what came up. I must really beat the piss out of my mouse pads.
Wore through that one. I finally researched a little more and found the SteelSeries I-2 Experience (glasspad, used to be IceMat), and shouldn't break down for roughly the same price. I've managed to wear down 3 in the past 6 months or so. Although it is much more durable, I still broke this one down in about 4 months, an improvement of 3 months over the others. As far as the pad itself, excellent tracking with an excellent feel to both sides, but durability is a problem for us rough users. 1 of them was a handstands "pad" that I got for a 5 spot at Wal-Mart.
(NOTE: By "wore" through I mean I wore it to the point that it no longer tracked smoothly).
